An ice cellar at 2,000 meters above sea level: the wines of Valle Camonica in a unique UNIMONT experiment

This winter has seen the start of a new project of the Pontedilegno-Tonale Consortium, involving the “Consorzio Vini di Valcamonica”, Cantina Bignotti and UNIMONT – the Mountain University at the Edolo Campus of the University of Milan: to complete the aging of 200 of the best bottles of Valle Camonica wine production in an ice cellar especially built for the occasion at Corno d’Aola. Objective: to study how the organoleptic qualities of wine change and to identify sustainable viticulture techniques.

UNIMONT centre of University of Milan is contributing with two Focus sessions to the International Mountain Conference, taking place in Innsbruck from 11 to 15 September 2022. The focus sessions will be attended by scholars and researchers active on the issues: send an abstract to actively contribute to the debate!


26 universities from the Alpine region participate in a workshop promoted by the EUSALP Action Group 1, coordinated by UNIMONT – detachment of the University of Milan

19 January 2022 – The EUSALP Action Group 1 – Research & Innovation coordinated by the UNIMONT Centre of the University of Milan on behalf of the Lombardy Region has promoted a meeting with 26 universities from 6 countries of the Alpine Region to promote coordination in order to accelerate the implementation of the ecological transition.


UNIMONT at the event TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION AS ALLIES FOR A SMART RURAL ENVIRONMENT: Smart villages for a lively future in remote areas.

On Wednesday 18th January 2022, the UNIMONT Center of the University of Milan, in consideration of the coordination role of the EUSALP Action Group 1 – Research & Innovation as delegated by the Lombardy Region, will participate in the meeting TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION AS ALLIES FOR A SMART RURAL ENVIRONMENT dedicated to identifying the potential of new technologies for the revitalisation of mountain territories.


The UNIMONT centre featured on Linea Bianca: an episode dedicated to those who choose to live and work in the mountains

An episode of Linea Bianca dedicated to the mountains of the Alta Valle Camonica was broadcast on Saturday 15th January at 3.10 pm on Rai Uno. The UNIMONT centre of the University of Milan, located in Edolo in Valle Camonica, featured in the broadcast through the stories of students and graduates.

Bachelor degree in Conservation and Sustainable Development of Mountain Areas

The goal of the Undergraduate Programme in Conservation and sustainable development of mountain areas (Class L-25) is to provide a strong basic knowledge and to provide professional skills in the main fields of agricultural and forest sciences. Graduates will be able to deal with technical, management and professional activities typical of agricultural and forest systems and the related technologies.

Bandi per la montagna

Permanent Secretariat of the Alpine Convention recognizes this key role of Young academics for the future of the Alps by awarding outstanding master theses carried out on relevant alpine topics. This biennial prize is regularly supported by the Presidency of the Alpine Convention, the Permanent Secretariat and the Infopoints of the Alpine Convention and is carried out in collaboration with the International Scientific Committee on Research in the Alps, ISCAR.

The workshop will share existing best practices carried out by youth in mountains, underlining the importance of agriculture in biodiversity conservation, in order to enhance the rich patrimony of knowledge and traditions while granting a sustainable development in mountain areas.

Youth4Mountains Series

Territorial development processes require the presence of an active entrepreneurial component, even better if young and innovative. This series of workshops will allow present and future young entrepreneurs from all over the world to get inspiration by sharing their ideas and experience.


UNA MONTAGNA DI VALORE imprenditori e innovatori per i territori montani

Appointment dedicated to the presentation of companies active in the agro-environmental sector that bring added value to mountain areas. The goal is to share best practices, successful experiences and innovative methods for entrepreneurship in the mountains. (italian language)
